A remarkable loggerhead-Kemp’s ridley hybrid sea turtle, affectionately nicknamed Earl Grey, has been released back into the ocean off Georgia’s coast. The juvenile, weighing 17 pounds, wasted no time returning to its natural habitat upon reaching the shore at Jekyll Island.
Earl Grey had spent the past six months undergoing rehabilitation at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. Its rescue off Cape Cod marked the beginning of a journey that culminated in its return to the waters it calls home.
